11/8/09. Psychologist Jonathan Shedler writes an excellent review on the efficacy of psychoanalytic therapy. He describes how principles of psychotherapy derived from the developments of psychoanalytic theory and research over many years benefit patients.

Not so. The referenced article is titled "The Efficacy of Psychodynamic Psychotherapy" (not the same thing) but mostly talks about CBT ond "other" therapies, far from psychoanalysis. Psychoanalysis, ironically, can't be analysed or measured because of the nature of the intervention and interventors.
Thank you for the correction. I read the article as providing research support for the principles of psychoanalytic principles --- or more broadly caled psychodynamic principles. I believe that psychoanalysis is subject to scientific study --- and the article provides some examples.
